Hi, I’m Johnston Galves. If you’re reading this, I’m somewhere along a 24-hour run in hopes of raising awareness and fundraising for a split between two local charities.

I run Oceanside Run Club, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to helping our community any way we can. Today is October 10th, World Mental Health Day, and in honor of that, I’m running from midnight to midnight, in hopes of raising money and awareness for our local youth.

Today holds a lot of meaning to me, as I spent a fair amount of my youth between group homes and psychiatric care. I know now that simply, times get tough, and sometimes there are unseen forces that play tricks on us, outside of what battles we might be facing.

I’m raising funds to support Casa de Amparo, an incredible local organization dedicated to helping our youth affected by and at risk of child abuse and neglect. Their mission is vital in promoting healing and healthy relationships for vulnerable children and families in our community.
