<div>We are reaching out to you today to ask for your support for our beloved coworker and friend, Toni Zambri, who has recently been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukemia. Toni has been a part of our Blazing Kitchen family since 2022, but we first had the privilege of knowing her through her incredible work with Feed It Forward, where she gave her time and heart to help others as a key volunteer for many years. Toni's positivity and infectious laugh have made her a cherished member of our team. She is always there to lend a shoulder to cry on, offering unwavering support and kindness without judgment, even on the toughest of days.

<div>After taking some time off in late August and September due to exhaustion, Toni told us the difficult news on November 15th that her health challenges were much more serious than anyone had imagined. With three children and a beloved granddaughter, Cece, whom she adores beyond words, Toni’s focus now needs to be on fighting this battle. She is in good spirits and cheerful as ever, but she started chemotherapy on November 26th, which has significantly lowered her energy.

<div>As you know, Vassag's dear mother has been courageously battling stage 4 breast cancer, and seeking every avenue towards healing and life extension, including a newly established, and promising treatment protocol enabled by the generous support of campaign donations from the community. We are very sad to share the news that her health took a very sudden turn this past week, and on the night of Friday, January 17th, she passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

<div>Vassag and his father are understandably devastated, and focused now on arranging her funeral for this coming week. As mentioned in the earlier iteration of this campaign, Vassag's father had recently suffered a stroke, and was working towards rehabilitation and stabilization. These needs remain urgent, and as such, we are asking for continued support for his health and security, as well as towards offsetting the upcoming funeral costs.

<div>Vassag has had to pause both full-time schooling and work in order to attend to his parents' health needs, and now this massive transition.

<div>Despite their hardships, Vassag’s family is determined to explore every possible path towards his mother’s healing, including integrative therapies and specialized treatments abroad which would improve her quality of life as well as fight her cancer. As their only child, Vassag is doing everything he can to support his parents, while pursuing a full-time grad degree and working part-time. But understandably, the immensity of these responsibilities is beyond his capacity to hold alone.

Support Our Family's Journey of Grief and Healing

<div>The Turkish government has announced that the shelters will only be available until March 1, 2023, and after that, families like Ahmet's will be left without a roof over their heads. This is why we are starting this fundraiser to help Ahmet's family and others in similar situations.

Family Rebuild After Turkeys Earthquake

<div>We are reaching out to you to introduce a GoFundMe campaign dedicated to supporting our dear friend Hinda. Hinda is an incredible nurse who has worked at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre for 28 years in several different settings of nursing experience. Hinda started her journey in Canada as a Somalian refugee and, against all odds, was able to build a life here for herself and her 5 children. A few months ago, Hindas life was turned upside down when she received the devastating diagnosis of stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer. Hinda will need everyone’s support and prayers while she continues the fight against her illness.

<div>Hinda’s focus now is to make her journey as comfortable as possible, and to ensure that that her daughters will be set up for success if she is no longer able to take care of them. Her dream is to have an accessible home. This will be extremely helpful not only for herself, but for her daughter Hafsa, who has Down’s syndrome.

<div>Hinda would like to create a bathroom on the main floor, complete with accessible features such as shower and a wheelchair ramp. This would provide hinda and her daughters with the independence and safety that they need, especially since a destructive lesion in Hinda’s hip threatens her ability to walk.

<div>In addition to these challenges, Hinda’s house requires major renovations. The kitchen cabinets have fallen off, the ceilings leak due to old bathroom pipes, and her heating and cooling systems are in disrepair. It has been tough for Hinda to fix these things while also working full time as a nurse, and caring for her daughters. Any support would mean the world.
