For the past 12 years, Sajan and I have built a life together rooted in love, resilience, and hope. Coming up on 5 years of marriage, we have spent the last several years trying to grow our family and become parents.
What many people haven’t seen behind the scenes is the heartbreak that has come with that journey.
Over the years, we have experienced more than 10 miscarriages, including multiple ectopic pregnancies that ultimately led to the removal of my left fallopian tube. Each loss has carried its own grief, trauma, and healing process. Infertility has affected every part of our lives emotionally, mentally, physically, and financially. It often feels like life has been placed on hold while we continue navigating the uncertainty of what comes next.
After many tests, appointments, procedures, and conversations with specialists, we have decided to move forward with IVF as our next viable option in hopes of finally bringing home a healthy baby.
As part of this process, we will also be undergoing PGT-A testing (Preimplantation Genetic Testing for Aneuploidy). This testing helps examine embryos for chromosomal abnormalities before transfer. Since most of our testing has come back relatively normal, this may help uncover one of the last unexplained causes behind our repeated losses and may reduce the risk of another miscarriage.
Unfortunately, IVF comes with overwhelming costs. In Alberta, some important aspects of treatment such as anesthesia during egg retrieval will not be covered. Egg retrieval is an invasive procedure, and after everything we have already experienced, I am hoping to undergo it with proper sedation to avoid adding further trauma to an already difficult journey.
Asking for help is not easy for us, but we know we cannot do this alone.
We are incredibly grateful for every person who has supported us emotionally throughout these years — whether through listening, checking in, praying for us, or simply holding space for our grief. Your kindness has carried us through some of our darkest moments.
Both Sajan and I work as school counsellors, and caring for others has always been at the center of our lives. We pour love, support, patience, and encouragement into the students and communities we work with every day. Our greatest hope is to now bring that same love and energy into our own home as parents.
If you are able to support us financially, share our story, or keep us in your thoughts, we are deeply grateful. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to the family we have dreamed of for so long.
Thank you for being part of our journey.
