<div>El 8 de enero de 2025 fue un día espantoso para miles de personas que viven al sur de California. Los incendios devastaron miles de viviendas dejando en cenizas todas sus pertenencias. Entre ellos se encuentran mi hermano Rodrigo y mi cuñada Kara.

<div>Ellos tenían su casa en Altadena al noreste de Los Ángeles. Durante años hicieron de su jardín un lugar maravilloso lleno de árboles frutales que cuidaban con esmero y dedicación. Tenían tres colmenas de abejas para ayudar a mantener su huerto y árboles en óptimas condiciones. Y muchos disfrutamos de la deliciosa miel que ellas producían.

<div>Tristemente hoy de eso solo quedan recuerdos.

<div>Ellos dos afortunadamente se encuentran bien y a salvo pero sin un lugar en donde vivir y sin más ropa que la que llevan puesta. Lograron rescatar algunos recuerdos y cosas irremplazables, pero fuera de eso no tienen nada.

<div>Hoy me acerco a ustedes para pedirles su ayuda. No imagino lo que es perder todo de la noche a la mañana. Y además vivir con la incertidumbre de lo que viene después. De cuánto tiempo tardará en recuperarse una ciudad entera de esta tragedia.

<div>Hoy quiero ayudarlos pero solo se me ocurre crearles un fondo que el día de “mañana”, cuando tengan más claridad de lo que viene, puedan usar para rehacer su vida y que mientras hoy les de un poco de paz en medio del pánico y la tristeza.

<div>Así que a través de esta página les pido su ayuda con lo que quieran y puedan dar. Todo suma. Ellos lo agradecerán enormemente. Se que estas situaciones nos ponen a prueba como personas y que también suelen sacar lo mejor de nosotros como comunidad.

<div>January 8, 2025 was a horrible day for thousands of people living in Southern California. Wild fires devastated thousands of homes reducing to ashes all of their belongings. Among those people are my brother Rodrigo and my sister-in-law Kara. They had a home in Altadena, north east of Los Angeles. During the years they lived there they managed to grow a wonderful orchard filled with trees which they loved and took care of with pride. They even had three beehives to help keep their trees and other plants in optimal condition. Many got to enjoy the delicious honey they produced. Sadly, all those things are now only memories. Luckily, they are both well and safe, but without a place to live and with the clothes they had on them at the time. They did manage to rescue some family heirlooms and irreplaceable stuff but other than that, they have nothing.

<div>I reach out to you today to ask for your help. I can’t imagine how it feels to lose everything in an instant. Add to that the uncertainty of what’s to come, or the time it’ll take for a whole city to recover from that tragedy.

<div>Today I want to help my family, but I can’t think of a better way than to create a fund so that “tomorrow”, when they have more clarity on what’s next, they can use it to reshape their lives, having a little peace of mind today amidst all the panic and sadness.

<div>It is through this page that I ask for your help. Everything adds up. There is no small amount. We will all be eternally grateful. I know this kind of situations test us as human beings and they usually bring out the best in everyone as a community.
