I think I might have just made a huge mistake...

On Easter Sunday, after a one too many Easter eggs and chatting it through with the organiser Phil Roberton, I signed up for the Flawed Hero Midnight Marathon. Now doing a marathon isn't a mistake, but agreeing to run with only 3 weeks preparation might be!

This isn't just your usual marathon either, this is 26.2 miles starting at midnight on 26 April in Letchworth, with the aim to finish before sunrise all whilst raising lots of money for Prostate Cancer UK

So no big training block, no long runs through the winter, just a spontaneous “why not!” moment that has now become very real, with just over 2 weeks left to get ready.

I just loved the unique vibe I got when talking to Phil, a race at midnight, capped at just 300 runners, a race that was all about peoples why and the achievement, rather than the chip time. There are no egos, no cut offs, just 300 of us showing up and moving forward.

We all have things going on in our lives and you don't always know what other people are going through. The recent loss of family members and long term illnesses, have reminded me how lucky I am to still be fit and healthy enough to attempt something like this, also the need to stay strong both physically and mentally to look after others.

I’ve always believed that in any situation, the most important step is the next one. That’s exactly what this event is about, keeping moving, especially through the dark and then into the light.
