<div>We are a "Sensory Friendly" barber shop located in Nutley, NJ. We have been in business for only 3 years, but our team has been involved in creating community events for Autism Awareness, Special Needs Children and Adults, plus numerous other incredibly fun and all-inclusive events.

<div>Those who have read about our shop have expressed a desire to help “Your Kind of Cuts” and bring the best experience possible to our clients.

<div>We desperately need barbers trained to work in a sensory friendly atmosphere and with  your help we would be able to pay the tuition to send the right people to barber school.

Your Kind of Cuts

<div>A few days ago, our dear friend Cody Bryant was in an accident while on a moped driving through Ibiza, Spain. Currently, Cody is in a stable condition but experienced a brain injury and a fractured femur that will require extensive surgery and an undetermined amount of time for recovery.

<div>Cody is a phenomenal friend to so many, an extraordinary son to Connie and Lance, and a best friend and brother to Rachel. We are hopeful for the days when we all can join Cody again on the dance floor.
</div>

<div>After consulting with his doctors, we expect his recovery process to be long and arduous. He's currently in the ICU in Ibiza and will require significant care over the next few weeks to give his body and brain time to heal. Connie has flown to Ibiza to be by his side, taking a leave of absence from teaching. His Aunt Teri flew from Arizona to assist in his care and offer her loving support to her favorite nephew. Rachel and her dog Milo are traveling cross-country from California to North Carolina to be with her Dad.

<div>Cody's recovery process will be costly. Unfortunately, his insurance does not cover medical expenses outside of the US, and the services from the hospital must be paid upfront. We intend to set up this GoFundMe to help fund his medical bills and get our Cody bear home safely.

<div>Hi everyone! I have never made a GoFundMe , but I feel that in this circumstance it is appropriate. I have an elderly friend named Donald who is 90 years old (91 in August!). He is also a disabled veteran (Airforce) who is taking care of his wife who just got diagnosed with dementia. They never had kids and they don't have any family left. He is the sweetest old man you could ever meet and loves his wife dearly. He takes care of her around the clock and his landlord is raising their rent and he is falling behind terribly with all of his bills. He's deathly afraid he's going to be displaced and that they are going to make his wife go to a home. I'm currently looking to find him a new place to rent that is within his budget, but I was hoping I could fundraise some money to lessen his load of financial stress. Any amount would help and any resources for a one bedroom first floor apartment or house to rent would be much appreciated in the Manchester area. I have looked into all sorts of resources, even section 8 housing for him and the waitlists are too long. Thanks again!

Help my elderly vet friend Donald!

<div>Early on in my Twitter journey, I remember seeing tweets from a “Coach Robyn”. Several months later, I remember remarking to my sister that I think Coach Robyn has to be one of the nicest, kindest people I’ve ever encountered on social media. I had noticed, what I’m sure others also noticed, that she was one of the first people to welcome new friends, she had words of encouragement and strength for everyone, she went out of her way to just be NICE.

<div>Fast forward a year and we are lucky enough that Coach adopted Gordan Beagle from Rescue Coop. Little Gordy came with a host of issues. Trauma, aggression, health issues that were not easy for this single mom to afford, yet she never asked for help, never suggested he may be returned and in fact constantly said no matter how hard it is, she is NEVER giving him back. This kind of commitment and dedication and love extends to her two boys.

<div>Robyn and her boys struggled as many of us do but even more so than most of us. In fact, they were homeless for a year and a half during the boys’ high school years. She’s had serious health challenges, fighting severe kidney issues requiring oral and intravenous medications for the rest of her life. She’s recently endured chemo and IV steroid injections that are emotionally and financially draining.

<div>In spite of all of these life challenges (or maybe because of them?) her sons are amazing young men. Vlad is a successful water polo player at McKendree University where he graduates in May as a Music Education Major. He was recently accepted to grad school for percussion performance and played with the Belleville Philharmonic. Ivan graduated from USC with honors in May 2023 and is currently in grad school studying Sport Coaching and Education at West Virginia University where he is a member of the men’s Swim &amp; Dive team.

<div>Months ago, we begged Coach to do a GoFundMe to help with expenses related to her medical care. She repeatedly (proudly and with embarrassment) said “the only GoFundMe I will allow is if Ivan makes the Olympics.” Well, Ivan has qualified for the 2024 Olympics in Paris this summer. This family has overcome so much and also achieved so much. Today I reach out to you, Twitter community, to help Robyn and Vlad watch Ivan compete in the 10k Marathon Swimming event at the Olympic games.

They were on the Today show, the BBC, CBS Evening News, 60 Second Docs, PBS, NPR, Steve Harvey, and WebMD.  The story of <strong>A Doll Like Me</strong> won a daytime Emmy in Los Angeles!  The stories of children and their dolls have been shared by actors and authors, bloggers and influencers.  One doll even posed on the launch pad at NASA!  The narrative of inclusion and representation is shifting, and you have been a part of that.

<div>We talk about those words a lot…but “inclusion” and “representation” look very different through the eyes of a child than they do for us.  At the very heart of <strong>A Doll Like Me</strong> is the idea that children - all children – both deserve and need to see themselves in the toys that they play with.  Research shows that “seeing yourself” makes a tremendous difference in a child’s psychological development and emotional growth.  Full stop.  That is pretty amazing.

Through play and imagination, dolls help children make sense of their world.  They can help children cope with stressful situations and, most importantly, they can help a child feel confident in who they are.  Knowing that, shouldn’t dolls look like the children who love them?!

<div>My dolls have travelled into war zones passing through the hands of multiple angel-volunteers to comfort scared children…they have gone into lifesaving surgical areas where helpless mothers and fathers are not able to accompany their babies…they go into classrooms with children who so desperately want their peers to see that “they aren’t the only ones who look this way”…they rest in arms of siblings and parents who have had to say goodbye to children whose lives ended way too soon…they attend celebrations and milestones because they are an extension of the child who loves them…they tag along to endless doctor visits and hospital stays where they are present for triumphant news and devastating news…they offer tangible security and gently lay alongside little guys who sleep in unfamiliar beds…and, perhaps most importantly, these dolls are validating, reassuring, and empowering in a world that often isn’t.

And because of this generous global community, there are no strings attached,” is hard to explain and it is infinitely more exhilarating and rewarding.  The pause between that and “Who did this for me?” is something I wish you could experience.
